The Andechser dark beer und the beer, slightly stronger than the usual, called "Doppelbock" are legendary for this place. Visitors who would like to try one of the stronger beers, should visit during the week, as these beers are not served at week-ends because of the danger of accidents.
Those not fond of strong beers, can enjoy an non alcoholic beer with their Bavarian snack - Brotzeit - to prepare mentally for the way down. The descent can be as difficult and dangerous as the steep ascent. Therefore: "take your time!" - as the Bavarians say.
Children can enjoy themselves in a large adventure playground, situated approximately half way up the mountain. Whether "junior" is capable of walking the rest of the way and climbing the 222 steps to the beer-garden is questionable. Maybe it would be better to take the S-Bahn to Herrsching and then the bus to Andechs.
