Karl Valentin Museum
In 1959 Hannes König opened
this collection of oddities in the towers of the Isartor (city
gate) in honour of one of Munich's most famous sons, the folk
singer and comic Karl Valentin (1882 - 1948). Pictures and text
can be viewed, as well as items from the life of this skinny
Munich original and his partner Liesl Karlstadt, such as the
nail on which he hung up his carreer as carpenter and a lying
stand-up collar. A paradise for Valentin fans and anyone with
a love of nonsense.
The visitor can also take refreshment in the cosy atmosphere
of the Folk Singer Cafe.
