Pilsensee

The Pilsensee is the youngest of the lakes that make up the Five-Lake-Country - "Fünfseenlandes" - and is also the second smallest after the Weßlinger Lake. Several thousand years ago the Pilsensee was part of the original Ammersee, but it was separated by the sinking water level and became a lake in it's own right.
The tract of land which emerged is just 1.5 km wide and is made up of large areas covered in reeds. This nature reserve is called "Herrschinger Moor". The natural enviroment around the lake is excellent for long hiking or bike tours..
